Keynote Sessions

Keynote Sessions will take place throughout all three programming dates. On Wednesday, February 8th, and Thursday, February 9th, the conference program will include two keynote sessions; one in the morning and one in the afternoon. On Friday, February 10th, the final keynote will take place in the morning followed by a half-day of session programming. Please note, the program is scheduled to conclude by noon on Friday, February 10th.

Wednesday, February 8th

Preparing Communities for Wildfire Through Mitigation, Funding, and Equity

How do we make sure resources are easy to adopt & access? This keynote will center on a number of topics including fire safety inequity, a more holistic approach to community design, and the pathways available for communities to access federal funds for recovery, mitigation, & retrofit.

Building Code Requirements and Limitations

This presentation will focusing on the technical side of WUI codes and comparing CA 7A vs. ICC/IWIC WUI Code.

Thursday, February 9th

NIST Camp Fire Research with CAL FIRE Overview

Presenting on the information that came from the research including information on post-fire analysis and the types of mitigation that are useful.
Format: Technical Presentation

California Building Insurance - the state’s future standards and best practices for wildfire mitigation and resilience

Discussing where the state is going, how the commissioner is bridging the gap, reductions & incentives for communities and individuals, etc.

Friday, February 10th

Centering on the theme 'Where do we go from here", the final keynote will focus on recovery and future technologies
